JK Rowling begins work on two new books
Story by Jack Foley
AUTHOR JK Rowling has already begun work on two more books just days after releasing the final book in the Harry Potter series.
The millionaire writer intends to deliver another children’s book and one for adults as well – although she’s confident that one will take over and the other will fall by the wayside!
She said she was “sort of” writing two things at the moment – one for children, the other not.
She adopted the same approach to writing the original Harry Potter and was writing two things simultaneously for a year. But then the young wizard took over and history was made.
Rowling predicts that if all goes to plan, one of her new works will oust the other “in due course” and she’ll know whichever survives is her next thing.
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows became the fastest-selling book in history upon being released a little over two weeks ago.
It broke US records by selling 8.3 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale, while 2.65 million copies were purchased in the UK, to help it become the quickest seller out of the entire series.
The previous record was set by Rowling in 2005 for Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince, which sold 2 million copies on its first day of release.
