JK Rowling hints at further Harry Potter books

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

Story by Jack Foley

JK ROWLING has dropped the clearest hint yet that she could write more books in the Harry Potter series.

Speaking to US chat show host Oprah Winfrey in Scotland, the prolific author confirmed that the characters are still in her head and added that she “could definitely” write several new books about them.

“I’m not going to say I won’t,” she added.

The revelations came as part of an interview that also revealed that Rowling had suffered the disappointment of rejection from countless publishers before eventually finding fame and fortune.

“A lot of people didn’t want it,” she continued. “A lot of people just sent it back, virtually by return of post. It was like a boomerang.”

But Rowling refused to be put off, speaking of her belief in the stories and her resilience despite being “a wreck” in her personal life at the time.

“For some reason I can even remember being quite pleased with it,” she said. “I know it sounds masochistic but I was even quite pleased with the rejection letters. I just had faith in the story.”

Incredibly, in spite of the world-wide acclaim surrounding the books, not all of Rowling’s children have even read them – although Rowling is making moves to ensure her kids do at least get round to it before seeing the films!

Talking of which, the final Harry Potter films, The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 & 2 are due to begin screening in cinemas from this November.
