Lionel Aggett's Italy - September 5 launch
Feature by Lizzie Guilfoyle
ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2007, Minister Brauzzi from the Italian Embassy will open Lionel Aggett’s latest exhibition – Lionel Aggett’s Italy – and launch the accompanying book at London’s W.H. Patterson gallery.
The book details Aggett’s journey and experiences as he travelled through Italy searching for scenes and settings to capture for his latest exhibition. It was a journey that took him from the north of the country through Liguria, Piedmont, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, right down to Basilicata and Puglia in the “heel” of Italy.
It was during this ‘viaggio’ that Aggett managed to capture the stunning scenery and landscape of this beautiful country. The book is, therefore, a celebration of that journey and Aggett’s encounters not only with the poorest and most remote villages but also with the great Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque cities, where he captured the soft light and warm, subtle colours of what is truly a passionate country.
Lionel Aggett’s Italy is available in hardback edition, priced £34.99.
The exhibition runs from September 1 to September 28, 2007.
