Wink launches at London's Buffalo Bar

Wink, promo

Compiled by Jack Foley

CALLING all indie kids, hoxtonites and liberscenesters – Wink is coming the first Friday of every month with the best bands and music from 9pm until 4am at North London’s Buffalo Bars.

The launch night is Friday, March 31, 2006, when the line-up includes The Pigeon Detectives, The B Plan and The Nudes.

The aim of the nights, which take place from 9pm to 4am, are to feature the finest live favourites as well as introducing the best of the new blood.

It also boasts Kitsch décor, prizes for prom kings and queens, monthly giveaways (both alcoholic and audible) for some lucky people and even the option of an I-pod playlist at the end of the night.

DJ wise, Wink promises to hand pick the freshest indie, post punk, electro and nu wave tunes and mix them up nicely with lashings of epic anthems. Requests are always welcomed.

Entry is free until midnight and £3 thereafter! Just e-mail your names into winktheclub@hotmail.co.uk for guestlist opportunities.

The Nudes are a London-based threesome that harness punky vocals with thrashing yet melodic riffs and beats to create a sound straight out of the Metropolitan sprawl.

Scully unite un-self conscious lyrics with meaty beaty drums and guitars to create a truly unique brand of folk punk.

And The Pigeon Detectives are a Leeds-based outfit who deliver catchy, hooky songs mixed with a front man that’s more energetic than Iggy Pop.
