Farewell To The King - DVD Preview

Farewell To The King

Preview by Jack Foley

WITH echoes of his script from Apocalypse Now, director John Milius (Red Dawn) takes a similar journey to the ‘heart of darkness’ with the epic Farewell To The King.

Based on a novel by Pierre Schoendoerffer, Farewell To The King comes to DVD in its first widescreen release on May 14, 2012 courtesy of Second Sight.

Nick Nolte plays renegade American soldier, Learoyd, who escapes a Japanese firing squad in the Philippines during World War II and sails to Borneo where, amid the rainforests, he is found half-deranged by a local tribe who adopt the stranger and make him King.

When British commandos led by Captain Fairbourne (Nigel Havers) parachute on to the Island they try to enlist the help of Learoyd and his tribe to fight against the Japanese. He is reluctant at first but when his tribe is attacked he vows to wreak revenge.

Farewell To The King is an action-packed action adventure classic.
