Resurrected - Preview

Preview by Jack Foley

FROM the director of The Bourne Ultimatum and Green Zone, Paul Greengrass, comes his powerful and provocative debut feature, Resurrected.

Resurrected features a superb performance from David Thewlis (Naked) as a young soldier serving during the Falkland conflict and comes to DVD for the first time from Second Sight Films on July 25, 2011.

Based on a true story, British soldier Private Deakin (Thewlis) goes missing presumed dead during battle and a memorial service is held in his honour.

Weeks later he is found alive suffering from exhaustion and amnesia. Returning home to a hero’s welcome, he rejoins his regiment, but insinuations of desertion emerge in the press fuelling a campaign of hatred that spirals out of control.

Resurrected features outstanding supporting performances from two of Britain’s finest acting talents, Tom Bell (Prime Suspect) and Rita Tushingham (A Taste Of Honey), as Deakin’s parents.

Time Out said of the film: “Combining a Falklands story with the broader theme of institutionalised bullying within the Armed Forces, this provocative and punchy drama attacks both issues with fierce intelligence.”

Special features include exclusive new interviews with Paul Greengrass and David Thewlis.
