Silver Dream Racer - Preview

Silver Dream Racer

Preview by Jack Foley

POP legend David Essex stars opposite Beau Bridges in a bittersweet story set in the cut-throat world of motorcycle racing.

Featuring thrilling scenes filmed at the 1979 British Grand Prix at Silverstone and a powerful score by John Cameron, as well as a number of David Essex hits, Silver Dream Racer is presented here in a new High Definition transfer from original film materials in its original, as-exhibited aspect ratio.

Aspiring hot-headed racer Nick Freeman (Essex) returns to his job as a garage mechanic after losing out to his under-handed American rival Bruce McBride (Bridges).

A twist of fate, however, gives Nick one more chance: when his brother is killed in a motorcycle accident, Nick inherits the untested, super-fast 500cc prototype on which he was working. Despite a series of crushing setbacks, he finally has the chance to prove both himself and the “Silver Dream Machine”…

With a fantastic supporting cast including Clarke Peters (The Wire, John Wick and upcoming Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) as Freeman’s loyal mechanic friend Cider, Cristina Raines (Nashville, The Duellists) as the woman caught between the vying bikers and the final film appearance of Harry H. Corbett (BBC’s Steptoe and Son) the mechanic boss Wiggins.

Silver Dream Racer is a thrilling ride speeding onto Blu-ray for the first time. It is available from August 28, 2017.
