ON NOVEMBER 13, 2008, Michael Palin will be giving a talk entitled Around the World in 80 Ways in the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall.
During the two-hour presentation, Palin will be sharing stories – and taking questions – about his travels and the people he has met along the way. He’ll also be reminiscing about his earlier career as a Python.
As Palin himself says: “Around The World In 80 Ways gives me a chance to savour, deplore, extol and generally celebrate the extraordinary ways of getting about the world that my crew and I have experienced… If you want to know how I see the world, this is it.”
The event is a fundraiser for Campaign for Better Transport, a national charity that works to secure transport that improves our quality of life, in particular, that of many older people for whom public transport is their only way to visit family, friends and services. At the same time, it aims to reduce our environmental impact. Michael Palin is the group’s president.
