THIS August, Foyles bookshop in London has a wide range of events to suit all tastes.

Stik: Exclusive London Signing – on Thursday, August 13 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Free.

Meet one of London’s most celebrated street artists – plus be in with a chance to win a set of three signed Stik posters, courtesy of Cornerstone.

Meet… The White Rabbit! – on Friday, August 14 from 11am to 12 noon (at Unit 22, Lower Concourse, London Waterloo Station). Free.

The time has come, the walrus said, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. All residents of Wonderland are invited to meet the famous White Rabbit. So come along dressed as a Gryphon, March Hare or your favourite children’s book character – not only will you make the Cheshire Cat smile but you’ll take home a very special Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland activity pack!

You can also meet The White Rabbit at the Royal Festival Hall on August 14 from 1pm to 2pm.

Celebrate 150 years of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – on Friday, August 14 from 3.30pm to 4.30pm (at 74-75 Lower Ground Floor, The Arcade, Westfield Stratford City, London, E20 1EH) Free but booking is recommended.

Foyles’ booksellers will take you on a delicious journey down the rabbit hole and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win some exciting Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland books! All residents of Wonderland are welcome, so come along dressed as a Gryphon, March Hare or your favourite children’s book character.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – on Tuesday, August 18 from 12 noon to 1.30pm (alternative time: 3pm to 4:30pm. Tickets: £15, ticket price includes admittance for one child and one adult and two cups of bonkers tea and two slices of cake.

The Mad Hatter will take you on a delicious journey down the rabbit hole to find out why a raven really is like a writing desk, where you’ll be treated to tea and cake. Plus you’ll also have the chance to create your very own watch, one so dandy you’ll make the White Rabbit hopping mad with jealousy. All residents of Wonderland are welcome, so come along dressed as a Gryphon, March Hare or your favourite children’s book character – not only will you make the Cheshire Cat smile but you’ll also be entered into a prize draw to win some exciting Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland books!

Foyles Book Club: Thirteen Steps Down – on Tuesday, August 18 from 7pm to 8.30pm. Free.

Once a month, Foyles customers and staff get together to discuss a book chosen by its members. It’s an opportunity to share our different interpretations on what we’re reading, to adamantly disagree, and to meet people united by reading. This month’s book is Thirteen Steps Down by Ruth Rendell.

Thunderbirds Training Day! – on Wednesday, August 19 from 11am to 12 noon (alternative time: 2pm to 3pm. Tickets: £5. Suitable for children aged 4-10 years.

Learn about what it takes to become a legendary member of International Rescue in an awesome Thunderbirds training session. Heroes can play games, complete missions and earn International Rescue badges! Plus, you’ll also hear tales of the illustrious Tracy brothers and their courageous battles. Simon & Schuster are publishing a fantastic collection of Thunderbirds Are Go TV-tie in titles this autumn that will be top of every 4-8 year olds wish-list this year.

Arm Candy: Friendship Bracelet Workshop – on Friday, August 21 from 11am to 12 noon. Tickets: £5 (one adult and one child).

Join craft designer Laura Strutt as she shows you step-by-step how to create stylish friendship bracelets. You will soon be fully prepared to knot, bend, twist, braid and tie your way into friendship bracelet heaven!

Meet… An Alien that Loves Underpants! – on Friday, August 21 from 11am to 12 noon (at Unit 22, Lower Concourse, London Waterloo Station). Free (no need to book).

One of the aliens from the hilarious picture book series Aliens Love Underpants has landed its spaceship in Foyles’ London Waterloo Station branch and is looking for some new pants-tastic pals! Children of all ages are welcome to come along and meet Claire Freedman and Ben Cort’s zany picture book character.

You can also meet An Alien that Loves Underpants at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday, August 21 from 1pm to 2pm.

Mermaid Storytelling with CBeebies’ Presenter Cerrie Burnell – on Saturday, August 22 from 11am to 12 noon. Free (booking recommended).

Plunge into the inspirational world of Sylvia and Luka in an interactive storytelling session with CBeebies’ presenter Cerrie Burnell, who will be reading from her latest picture book Mermaid and inviting fellow seafarers to decorate their very own mermaid tails.

Salvatore Rubbino: Illustration Workshop For Kids! – on Saturday, August 22 from 2pm to 3pm. Tickets: £5 per child, with an accompanying adult.

Join Foyles favourite Salvatore Rubbino as he opens children’s eyes to the world of illustration. How does an illustrator turn a story into pictures and bring characters to life? Salvatore will be sharing these secrets and more, before leading the group in a workshop where they’ll learn how to draw a famous London landmark.

LEGO® Awesome Ideas: The Big Build – on Sunday, August 23 from 12 noon to 1:30pm (alternative time: 3pm to 4.30pm). Tickets: £20, with an exclusive pre-publication copy of LEGO® NINJAGO™ Build Your Own Adventure.

To celebrate the release of DK’s new LEGO® Awesome Ideas book, Foyles have teamed up with leading children’s publisher Dorling Kindersley to host some fun-filled creative LEGO® construction workshops. Budding builders will be able to get their hands on LEGO® Awesome Ideas before anyone else in the world, and expert LEGO builders Yvonne Doyle, Tim Goddard, Tim Johnson, Drew Maughan and Peter Reid will be sharing the innovative LEGO® building secrets behind the LEGO® models in the book.

Let’s Go Outside: Nature Workshop – on Monday, August 24 from 11am to 12noon. Tickets: £3 per child, with an accompanying adult.

Find out how to get the best from the British countryside this summer with the outdoorsy authors of Let’s Go Outside, Steph Scott and Katie Akers. They’ll show you how to make gorgeous creations using just a few essential items (like string and scissors) and a little help from nature (like leaves, acorns and sticks).

Lions with authors Alex T. Smith and Helen Stephens – on Monday, August 24 from 2pm to 3pm. Free.

Bestselling author-illustrators Alex T Smith and Helen Stephens combine to host an event all about lions! To celebrate their latest picture books, both will be introducing their own lions and even showing the audience how to draw their own. Complete with games and face painting, this event is sure to be roaring good fun!

A Little Life: Hanya Yanagihara – on Wednesday, August 26 from 7pm to 8pm. Free.

Still buzzing from its release in the US earlier in the year and just longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2015, A Little Life is a profoundly moving work that will leave its mark on the reader and the industry for years to come. Take this opportunity to meet the author as she unpicks this contemporary literary triumph, discusses her career as a writer thus far, and what’s next for her and for us.

Meet… Miffy! – on Friday, August 28 from 10am to 11am (at 74-75 Lower Ground Floor, The Arcade, Westfield Stratford City, London, E20 1EH). Free (booking recommended).

Celebrate 60 years of Miffy with a very special guest appearance at Foyles’ Westfield Stratford City branch. Children of all ages are invited to come along and have their photo taken with Dick Bruna’s beloved picture book character.

You can also meet Miffy at Unit 22, Lower Concourse, London Waterloo Station on Friday, August 28 from 1pm to 2pm.

Poppy Pym Circus Party! – on Friday, August 28 from 12 noon to 1pm (at the Royal Festival Hall). Free.

A magical event that will bring the circus to the Southbank with face painting, stories and plenty more!

Guess How Much I Love You Storytelling – on Saturday, August 29 from 10.30am to 11am/11.30am to 12 noon/2pm to 2.30pm/3pm to 3.30pm – at Westfield White City (10.30am to 11am), Westfield Stratford City (11.30am to 12 noon), 107 Charing Cross Road WC2H 0DT (2pm to 2.30pm and 3pm to 3.30pm). Free.

Cherished family classic Guess How Much I Love You will be brought to life this Summer. Join special guest storyteller, Vanessa Wolf, for an enchanting interactive storytelling of Sam McBratney’s darling tale, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
