Big Bus London Sightseeing Tour
Feature by Lizzie Guilfoyle
WHETHER you’re visiting London for the first time or simply looking for a great day out, a Big Bus London Sightseeing Tour could be right up your street.
Over the course of two thousand years, London has generated a story which now captures the imagination of millions of visitors every year. From the Romans to the Vikings, the Normans to the Tudors, all have left their mark. Artists as diverse as Shakespeare, Dickens, Turner, Mozart, Henry James and the Beatles have all found inspiration here.
An ideal way to experience the architectural and cultural magnificence of London, is on an open-top, live-guided sightseeing tour. There’s no better way to see the richness and colour of modern, vibrant London whilst picturing the days of mediaeval splendour which led to the creation of the world’s largest empire.
A day full of history, amazing facts, and above all lots of fun, is guaranteed. And you will have the best view around! But best of all, you can hop on and off when and wherever you like.
The Big Bus Company offers two main routes – Red and Blue – and a Green Link across London, taking in the best sights in the capital. Tickets are valid for 24 hours so there’s plenty of time to see as much as you wish. They also include a free river cruise and free walking tours.
There are, in fact, five walking tours – Royal London Walk which includes Changing of the Guard; Movie Location Walk; The Big Bus Beatles Walk; The World of James Bond, which explores the secret side of the capital; and Ghosts by Gaslight, described as a spooky London pub crawl.
You can join the tour at any bus stop where you see the Big Bus sign but it’s strongly recommend that first timers board at one of the main departure points where Big Bus staff can provide advice about traffic conditions on the day and final departure times. The three key starting points are Green Park, Marble Arch and Victoria.
