An Evening of Burlesque

CORSETS tightened, stocking tops smoothed, seams straightened, suspenders snapped, killer heels slipped into, lippy liberally applied – the UK’s biggest burlesque spectacular comes to The O2 on October 21.

Hit theatre show An Evening of Burlesque arrives at The indigO2 at The O2 on the back of a 50-date nationwide tour.

Says producer Michael Taylor: “We’ve been taking burlesque to the masses with this spectacular, brand new production. And, right across the UK, it’s received incredible critical acclaim.”

The production recreates the tradition of burlesque and gives it a modern-day twist.

An Evening of Burlesque is the only theatre show bringing this intriguing art form – with its long, thrilling tradition – to UK theatres via a national tour. Its success is built upon the burgeoning popularity of burlesque.

The film Burlesque – starring Christina Aguilera and Cher – was a box office smash earlier this year. Scores of intimate burlesque clubs have sprung up throughout city centres. And burlesque classes are all the rage right across the country.

An Evening of Burlesque brings variety back to the theatre, combining musical and theatrical parody with the art of striptease, magic, comedy and dance,” continues Taylor.

The stars of the show are drawn from the West End’s thriving burlesque scene.

“We’ve been playing to full houses across the country. We’ve fan danced in Fareham, snapped our suspenders in Southend, made audiences scream in Aberdeen and wowed them in Worcester.

“But the indigO2 show is our London debut. Never before has so much burlesque talent been presented in one evening.”

An Evening of Burlesque is compered by the delectable Kiki Kaboom and includes the cream of British Burlesque talent, including Miss Hotcake Kitty, Amber Topaz, Chrys Columbine, Miss Slinky Sparkles, Ginger Blush and The Kalki Hula Girl.

With magic, music and song (even featuring a frenzied live rendition of the cadenza of Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto in C Minor) and dance, this production promises it will be the biggest burlesque extravaganza London has ever seen.

Special guests are The Folly Mixtures – London’s top burlesque quartet whose themed routines include Nine to Five, Americana and Bunnies Galore.

An Evening of Burlesque is for over-18s only.
