THE VICTORIA and Albert Museum’s spring exhibition, China Design Now, will be on display from March 15 to July 13, 2008.
It will explore the recent explosion of new design in China, from the 2008 Olympic stadium to the most interesting fashion and graphics.
The exhibition captures a dynamic phase as China opens up to global influences, and looks at developments in three rapidly expanding cities – Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. It will display the work of Chinese and international designers and focus on architecture, fashion, youth culture and graphics as well as film, photography, product and furniture design and digital media.
China Design Now is sponsored by HSBC.
The fifth annual COLLECT, organised by the Crafts Council, is a unique opportunity to see a vast array of styles of contemporary applied art under one roof – from Friday, January 25 to Tuesday, January 29, 2008.
Building on the success of the past four years, the 42 international exhibiting galleries will present museum quality ceramics, glass, art, jewellery, silver, textiles, furniture and wood. The fair not only attracts specialists but is also an opportunity for those wanting to learn more about artists at the pinnacle of their career and to spot the next rising star.
