Christmas at Kew
THIS Christmas, for the first time, Kew Gardens opens its doors after dark for visitors to discover an illuminated trail through an enchanted winter landscape.
Explore the one-mile-long illuminated trail as it winds its way through the Gardens, casting light into hidden places off the beaten track, under tree-top canopies and onto dancing lakeside ripples. Visitors will be able to interact with a captivating light, sound and landscape.
Linger by the lake, meander through the Mediterranean Garden, gaze at the Garden of Fire and wonder at the iconic Palm House drenched in colour. From the delicate and twinkling to the grand and spectacular, Kew’s much loved landmarks are brought to life as never before.
There’s also a Christmas village located at Victoria Gate, where visitors will find something fun for all the family – from Santa to festive nibbles, Christmas shopping and nightly live Christmas carols.
Children can also enjoy Santa’s Woodland Grotto before taking a spin on the Victorian carousel and family rides. Santa’s Grotto will operate from November 28 to December 23, last entry 8.30pm.
Visitors can also wander through the boutique Christmas market, filled with an assortment of hand-picked, irresistible gifts and tempting treats for foodies.
The Christmas market is a unique collaboration with creative taste-makers We Make London and local designer/maker craft traders. Traditional wooden chalets will host a selection of hand-picked, irresistible gifts and tempting treats for foodies representing London’s thriving and creative market scene.
Dates: November 28, 2013 to January 4, 2014 (the trail is not open every day).
Times: 4.30pm to 10pm.
