DIY Dress Design Workshop - The Papered Parlour
In honour of London Fashion Week, The Papered Parlour will be hosting Ethical Fashion: DIY Dress Design Workshop with acclaimed designer Mia Jafari – on Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26, 2010.
Spend the weekend with acclaimed textile designer Mia Jafari, whose work has been featured in the likes of Vogue and Nylon magazines and uncover the top design tips you need to become a player in the ethical fashion movement.
Under Jafari’s skilled instruction, you can work with recycle fabrics and vintage prints to create new and inspired garments. Bring your own sewing machine or borrow one of The Papered Parlour’s vintage Singers and learn how to assemble, finish and accessorise your upcycled garments.
Get the skills you need to Do It Yourself from scratch, customise your winter wardrobe and update your favourite vintage number at home.
Since unveiling her debut collection ‘Ladybirds Strawberry Cosmos’ in Spring 2010, Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths graduate Mia Jafari has received critical acclaim from across the globe. Her seductively playful, handfinished limited edition silk scarves draw on Jafari’s Iranian-British background, blending eastern rhythms with a cosmopolitan sophistication that both tantalizes and delights.
