Handel the Philanthropist - Foundling Museum
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THE Foundling Museum’s next big exhibition is Handel the Philanthropist, which will be on display from Friday, January 16 to Sunday, June 28, 2009.
April 14 marks 250 years since Handel’s death in 1759 and his gift to the Foundling Hospital of the score and parts of Messiah.
As the guardian of Handel’s will, which is part of the Gerald Coke Handel Collection, the Foundling Museum will be gathering together a fascinating selection of beautiful portraits and manuscripts relating to Handel’s support of charitable causes to complement the Foundling Hospital and Gerald Coke Handel Collections.
This celebration not only brings together historically significant works relating to Handel’s music but also an exciting programme of performances, workshops and activities for all ages.
