FOR THE first time in 25 years, Chris Beetles Gallery is presenting its first selling exhibition devoted to the art of British cartooning, Having A Laugh! The British Art of the Cartoon – from April 24 to May 31, 2007.

Representing the best British cartoons of the last 100 years, exhibits include everything from contemporary political satire to the many uses of a dead cat. The works – by some of Britain’s best-loved cartoonists (and some of the most hated) – are from publications such as The Times, Private Eye, Daily Express, Evening Standard, Punch, Economist and many more.

Famous names include Barry Appleby, Sally Artz, H M Bateman, Glen Baxter, George Belcher, Simon Bond, Peter Brookes, Frank Dickens, Simon Drew, Giles, William Hewison, Tony Husband, Osbert Lancaster, Larry, Joseph Lee, Edward Mclachlan, Nick Newman, William Heath Robinson, Willie Rushton, Ronald Searle, Edward Sorel, Kipper Williams, Mike Williams, Reg Wooton and Patrick Wright.
