AN EXHIBITION entitled Lieux de Mémoire will be on display at the Sumarria Lunn Gallery from November 21, 2013 to January 24, 2014.

Lieux de Mémoire brings together the work of David Birkin, Nadia Kaabi-Linke, Manuela Ribadeneira and Nasan Tur to consider the methods and motivations for our collective remembering and forgetting in relation to political and territorial issues around the world.

Nadia Kaabi-Linke (b. 1978, Tunis) has exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Nam June Paik Art Center in Seoul, the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and was awarded the Abraaj Capital Art Prize. She will be showing in a solo exhibition at the Gulbenkian, Lisbon in 2014.

Nasan Tur (b. 1974, Offenbach) has exhibited at Blain, Southern Berlin, the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, the Taipei Biennial in Taiwan and at the 13th Istanbul Biennale in 2013. He will have a solo exhibition at Kunsthal 44 Moen in Denmark.

David Birkin (b. 1977, London) has exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art PS1 in New York, the Photographers’ Gallery in London, Dumbo Arts Center in Brooklyn and Baibakov Art Projects in Moscow. He was a recipient of the Sovereign Art Prize (Barbican, London) and the Celeste Art Prize (Museo Centrale Montemartini, Rome). He will be showing at the Whitney Museum, New York in 2014.

Manuela Ribadeneira (b. 1966, Quito) represented Ecuador at the 52nd Venice Biennale and has exhibited at Casa Triângulo in Sao Paulo, the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation in Miami, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, David Roberts Art Foundation in London and Museo del Barrio in New York. She will be showing in solo presentation at Pinta New York curated by Jose Roca (Estrellita B. Brodsky Adjunct Curator of Latin American Art at Tate, London).
