Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2012
Exhibition preview
SPONSORED by the Painter-Stainers’ Company, Lynn Foundation, Linklaters and Minerva Magazine, the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, now in its seventh year, is a competition designed to encourage creative representational painting and promote the skill of draughtsmanship.
The 2012 Prize sees two exciting changes: the sponsors have generously increased the total prize money to £25,000, and the exhibition will now be held at the prestigious and more spacious venue of the Mall Galleries, London.
The 2012 selectors are Andrew Wilton, Visiting Research Fellow at Tate Britain; Ken Howard RA NEAC, Artist; Chris Orr RA, Artist; James Hart Dyke, Artist and William Packer, Art critic and artist.
They will select an exhibition of approximately 100 works to be displayed at the Mall Galleries from March 28 to April 5, 2012. The exhibition will then tour to W.H. Patterson Gallery from April 23 to April 27, 2012.
In only a few years, the competition has become extremely popular with young contemporary painters. The Young Artist Award of £2,500 is a coveted prize that aims to promote painting and support fresh new talent.
Other prizes include the First Prize of £15,000 and five Runner Up Prizes of £1,500. The award winners will be announced at a private awards ceremony on the 27 March 27, 2012.
