Pearl Essence Showcase - Platform Jewellery

Pearl Essence Showcase

Exhibition preview

LAST MONTH, Platform, Hatton Garden’s only contemporary jewellery gallery, celebrated its first year of trading in style at the Hatton Garden Festival.

Over the past year, the ‘not for profit’ gallery has dedicated itself to pioneering the best of British jewellery talent, successfully showing established designers alongside the stars of the future in a rotating showcase that both supports the plethora of exciting makers the country has to offer, and ensures those with a discerning eye, fresh delights every two months.

From plastics and anodised aluminium to the most precious of metals and stones, Platform has dedicated itself in its first year to delivering quality and originality, and with prices from £50 – £50,000 the gallery will continue to ensure that there really is something for everyone.

Platform’s current showcase Pearl Essence, which particularly highlights makers whose innovative use of the traditional pearl makes them shine, will be running until August 28, 2010, with a special private opening taking place on August 11.

Platform’s Retail Manager Sarah Hutchison describes a few of the designer’s work on show:

“We have some beautiful pearl jewellery on show at the moment, from the sophisticated Midnight and Dawn necklaces by Drew Perridge using 18ct Gold and Tahitian pearls, to the Precious Coral range by Ornella Iannuzzi and then Selina Cambell’s pretty, floral, contemporary silver pieces. All of these designers’ work challenge the ideas on the traditional reputation of the Pearl.”

Times: Monday to Friday from 10.30am to 5.30pm, Saturday from 12 to 4pm. (Closed Sunday).
