Photomonth Launches Youth Photography Award
PHOTOMONTH east london photography festival is pleased to announce the launch of its Youth Photography Award sponsored by The World Photography Organisation.
One lucky young photographer has the chance to win a trip to Cannes and meet world renowned photographers.
The prize consists of two round trip flights to Cannes, France, plus two nights accommodation, to attend the annual Sony World Photography Awards ceremony and week-long event produced by the World Photography Organisation. The winning youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to be granted this prize.
The theme for the first photomonth youth award is Children’s Rights in support of the 20th Anniversary of the UNICEF Convention of the Rights of the Child, the most endorsed human rights treaty in the world declaring five fundamental children’s rights: the right to 1) a childhood, 2) be educated, 3) be healthy, 4) be treated fairly, 5) be heard.
Entrants must be 11 to 19 years old and resident in the UK.

Deadline for submission is December 14, 2009.
The winner will be announced in January 2010 and travel to receive their award in Cannes in April 2010.
PHOTOMONTH, held annually in October and November, is the largest photography festival in the UK with more than 150 exhibitions and events taking place in over 80 venues in East London.
