Sainsbury's Jubilee Family Festival: War Horse and Strictly Come Dancing join bill

Jubilee Family Festival

Story by Jack Foley

WEST End sensation War Horse and BBC favourite Strictly Come Dancing have both been added to the line-up for the Jubilee Family Festival Presented by Sainsbury’s in Hyde Park on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, 2012.

It has also been announced that the event will be hosted by Myleene Klass and the UK’s favourite impressionist Jon Culshaw.

Choreographed especially for The Jubilee Family Festival the event will feature appearances by the puppets and actors from the National Theatre’s award-winning production of War Horse, currently playing at the New London Theatre.

This unique and special arrangement will feature Joey and Topthorn, the breath-taking life-sized horse puppets who become the equine heart of the story, alongside the stunning musical arrangements and songs from the critically acclaimed production.

Strictly Come Dancing‘s presence marks the very first performance of the show on a specially designed stage inside the park and will see 2011 finalist Chelsee Healey returning to take part.

The family festival – which will conclude each day with a 70-minute Disney convert – takes place from 10.30am to 7pm daily, with a capacity for 50,000 ticket holders on each day.

Commenting on his appearance, Jon Culshaw said: “I am honoured to be a part of the Jubilee Family Festival and to share the celebratory hosting duties with the stunning Myleene Klass. This unique event has more faces than I do and will be a brilliant way of keeping the family entertained in London for the Jubilee festivities.”

The Festival, with an action-packed and imaginative fun-filled programme, is being hosted by The Royal Parks and organised by world famous promoter Harvey Goldsmith CBE on behalf of Sainsbury’s.

Inspired by the great British tradition of village fetes and street parties, The Festival will be themed around 60 years of great British heritage and will include influences from across the Commonwealth.
