Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
A NEW interactive exhibition, The Science of Survival: Your Planet Needs You! runs from April 5 to November 2, 2008, at the Science Museum in London.
This hands-on exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to explore how the way we live will be affected by changing climate and resources and to glimpse how we might live in 2050.
Helping visitors solve some of the challenges around the seven areas of the exhibition – Briefing, Drinking, Eating, Enjoying, Moving, Building and Future City – will be Dug, Tek, Buz and Eco, four virtual guides from the year 2050.
Here visitors can explore some of the issues we may face in the future such as innovative ways to find water, designing a new superfood, creating your personal eco-vehicle and building a sustainable neighbourhood before seeing it come to life in the Future City.
The Science of Survival: Your Planet Needs You! was developed in consultation with top scientists and researchers to explore how climate change and diminishing resources could affect how we live in the future, and how science and technology might help provide some solutions.
The exhibition gives visitors the chance to hear the views not only of some of these experts but also of the people affected and to see genuine artefacts that are already in use.
