The Worst Gift is a Fruitcake: Christmas Sale

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FERREIRA Projects is presenting Charlotte Hopkins Hall’s first curatorial project, The Worst Gift is a Fruitcake: Christmas Sale, from December 4 to December 20, 2008.

The exhibition features small works in various mediums by Sam Burfurd, James R. Ford, Russell Herron, Emilia Holt, Charlotte Hopkins Hall, and Bosse Sudenburg.

The idea is to confront the works of an astute group of artists whose works are diverse, both visually and in subject matter. A constraint of size has been introduced in order for this juxtaposition to be reflected by the nature of the pieces and not their format, producing a dynamic array of contemporary art.

Whilst all the artists have a favourite medium, most have decided to think outside the box and produce small pieces especially for the show. This will give rise to a fresh and spirited presentation of works that will be enhanced by the brevity of the show in the run up for Christmas.

There is a desire to offer an alternative to the traditional Christmas present that not only supports and promotes our young artists, but that is also a thoughtful and unusual gift that will not break the bank.

The series of works will consist of drawings, paintings, photography and objects.

Admission: Free

Times: Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
