Venice in Peril Exhibition - W.H. Patterson Gallery
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THE Italian Ambassador, His Excellency Signor Giancarlo Aragona KCVO, will open the annual Venice in Peril Exhibition at the W.H. Patterson Gallery where it will run from January 24 to February 24, 2007 (preview night – January 23).
The annual exhibition, now in its 16th year, has become an unmissable event in the January calendar, brightening the darkest winter’s eve with a colourful and inspiring array of paintings and watercolours.
Through the eyes, brushstrokes and palettes of the artists, the gallery is transformed into a fascinating spectacle, transporting visitors to the canals of Venice adorned with their splendid renaissance architecture, transitory lighting and treasured memories.
The aim of the exhibition is to support the Venice in Peril Foundation, whose tireless efforts to restore and renovate Venice helps us all to enjoy the city now and to preserve it for future generations.
Following the success of last year’s association between Kirker Holidays and W.H. Patterson, Ted Wake, the managing director of Kirker holidays, has generously agreed to provide a five-star weekend in Venice for two people, as a prize for one lucky patron purchasing a painting during the exhibition.
Opening Times: Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm, Saturday 10am-3pm. By appointment at all other times.
