What's on at the Royal Academy of Arts from July to September 2019

THE Royal Academy of Arts has a full programme of exhibitions and events taking place over the coming months.

EXHIBITIONS

Félix Vallotton: Painter of Disquiet – in The Jillian and Arthur M. Sackler Wing of Galleries until September 29.

This survey of paintings and prints by the Swiss artist Félix Vallotton (1865–1925) is the first exhibition of the artist’s work in the UK since 1976. Greatly admired in his native Switzerland, Vallotton remains relatively little known elsewhere. The exhibition serves as a rare opportunity to discover the highly original and innovative work of this often overlooked artist.

Opening times: 10am – 6pm, Fridays until 10pm.

Admission: Full price £16 (£14 excluding Gift Aid donation); concessions available; under 16s and Friends of the RA go free.

Summer Exhibition 2019 – in the Main Galleries and The McAulay Gallery until August 12.

Acclaimed British painter, Jock McFadyen RA is the co-ordinator of the 251st Summer Exhibition. McFadyen, alongside the Summer Exhibition Committee has built on the exhibition’s success, recognising that it continues to provide a unique platform for artists at all stages of their career to present recent work.

Opening times: 10am – 6pm, Fridays until 10pm.

Admission: Full price £18 (£16 excluding Gift Aid donation); concessions available; under 16s and Friends of the RA go free.

Young Artists’ Summer Show – in The Clore Learning Centre from July 14 to August 4.

The Royal Academy presents the first Young Artists’ Summer Show, showcasing artwork by young artists aged 7-19yrs.

Curated by Bob and Roberta Smith RA and taking its inspiration from the Summer Exhibition, the Young Artists’ Summer Show received more than 6200 submissions in a range of media from primary and secondary school students. Over 300 works are available to view online until December 31 and the free, onsite exhibition in the Clore Learning Centre will open on July 14.

Opening: Daily 10am – 6pm; Friday 10am – 10pm.

Admission: Free, no booking required.

TALKS AND EVENTS

Annual Architecture Lecture: Lacaton & Vassal Architects – in The Benjamin West Lecture Theatre on Monday, July 15 from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The Royal Academy welcomes Jean Philippe Vassal, co-founder of Lacaton & Vassal Architects, to deliver the 29th Annual Architecture Lecture.
