Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition 2009
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
The Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition opens at the Natural History Museum on October 23, 2009 and runs until April 11, 2010.
The competition to find the Wildlife Photographer of the Year is organised by the Museum alongside the BBC Wildlife Magazine, and is undoubtedly the most prestigious of its kind in the world. This year, there were more than 43,000 entries from 94 countries.
The exhibition, which this year is housed in a larger gallery and features larger format images, is a celebration of the winning and commended images.
Beautiful and evocative, each image is a moment frozen in time and clearly demonstrates the photographer’s technical skill, artistry and, above all, patience.
Also available, is a range of associated merchandise – from beautifully reproduced postcards and prints on demand to colourful mugs and jigsaws.
A book, published each year, is also available.
