YEAR of the Print 2014 – Landscape Photography exhibition is on display at the Mall Galleries from March 24 to March 29, 2014.

Everybody is photographing. Everybody is sharing images via the web and flicking through thousands of pictures on touchscreens but what about the art of the print? The ubiquity of digital viewing may help to spread enthusiasm for photography but nothing beats the impact of seeing a beautiful image printed large.

Photographic tour and workshop company, Light & Land, together with Fotospeed and Outdoor Photography Magazine have named 2014 the ‘Year of the Print’ and are celebrating with this exhibition which features more than 300 prints from over seventy photographers.

The work of many fine landscape photographers will be on display, with the passion and skill that makes a successful photograph much in evidence. Locations from around the world will be represented and pictures are available for sale.

A series of talks will run throughout the exhibition, given by some of the UK’s finest photographers (pre-booking is advisable) and there will be individual critique sessions on offer from leading photographers, photography magazine editors and other industry experts.

Exhibition partners, Fotospeed, are a long established supplier of high quality digital printing papers and will be on hand to demonstrate what lies behind making a great print.

Renowned landscape photographer and the man behind the exhibition, Charlie Waite says:

“We want to create a buzz in the world of photography and encourage as many people as possible to print. To my mind, the investment made by the landscape photographer is arguably only fully realised when the exchange between the photographer and their subject is made manifest in the very tangible form of a print. A quick ‘rush of affirmation’ from seeing one’s image on a monitor with the vibrancy of transmitted light is one thing but seeing one’s work proudly displayed in print form and on a wall, framed and for others to relish is surely another. Set your photographs free.”
