23 Jump Street in development

22 Jump Street

Story by Jack Foley

CHANNING Tatum and Jonah Hill are to reunite for a third Jump Street film, Sony has confirmed.

The cop three-quel will be written by Rodney Rothman, one of the writers of runaway hit 22 Jump Street, the sequel to 21 Jump Street.

As yet, there are no plot details available but the sequel did end with undercover officers Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko being told they would be heading to medical school on their next mission. However, that revelation was followed by a montage of proposed sequels that could form the basis for any new movie.

The Jump Street movies are an update of the 1980s police procedural TV show about young-looking cops infiltrating high schools to uncover crimes. It made a name of Johnny Depp, who featured in a surprise cameo in the original movie.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the first two instalments of the film series but, according to Deadline, it is not yet clear whether they intend to return to the franchise for a third time.
