CASIONS are renowned settings when it comes to tension, intrigue and glamour in films. From nail-biting games with high stakes to elaborate heists and jackpot wins, casino scenes are often the most memorable for viewers, actors and directors alike.

Here, we take a look at some of the most iconic casino scenes in film history, from a classic James Bond featuring Daniel Craig to something a little more comedic.

Casino Royale

Casino Royale takes James Bond to Monte Carlo where he attempts to bankrupt villain Le Chiffre, a terrorist financier. For film fans who love a good casino scene, this film is ideal as it revolves around multiple of them! Like any Bond film, the casino scenes in this film absolutely epitomise the thrill and tension of the gambling table and provide an incredibly highly charged experience.

Run Lola Run

Run Lola Run is a German thriller that follows Lola after receiving a frantic phone call from her boyfriend giving her 20 minutes to get hold of 100,000 marks or he will be killed. With a Sliding Doors-esque structure, the film plays through a number of possible scenarios and it is ultimately an intense and theatrical casino scene that sees Lola win the money on roulette she needs to save her boyfriend.

The Hangover

Who said all casino scenes needed to be serious? In this blockbuster comedy, Alan sits down at a blackjack table to win big in order to buy back their friend and the missing groomsman of their bachelor party.

Not only does Alan win big in the casino, this film was also a huge hit in the box office bringing in over $450 million and going on to produce two more sequels that were similar box office hits.

Rain Man

This 1988 film features Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise as brothers on a road trip to Nevada. The casino scene in this film is iconic, and even had an influence on the scene mentioned above in The Hangover, where the two men walk into the casino in grey suits. Rain Man won Best Picture at the Oscars in 1988 and remains to this day one of the most recognisable casino scenes as the tension builds and crowds gather around the table.
