A Funny Story for Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts

The Hangover

Story by Jack Foley

ZACH Galifianakis and Emma Roberts are in talks to appear in a new coming-of-age dramedy called Funny Story.

Based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, the film would follow the fortunes of a teenage boy who is sent to a mental institution after suffering a bout of depression where he ends up in the adult ward.

He subsequently meets several “offbeat adults” as well as a quirky teenage girl.

Galifianakis, the breakout star of The Hangover, would play one of the main adult characters, while Roberts would play the teenage girl, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film is being written and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, the duo behind Oscar-nominated drama Half Nelson and immigrant sports story Sugar. There is no word as yet on who could play the teenage boy at the centre of the story.
