Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins Thor sequel as villain

Mr Eko in Lost

Story by Jack Foley

BRITISH actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined the cast of Marvel’s Thor sequel as one of the lead villains.

The former Lost star will play the dual roles of Algrim the Strong and Kurse, according to Variety.

Thor: The Dark World is currently scheduled for release by Disney and Marvel Studios on November 8, 2013, with Alan Taylor directing.

Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the Norse god, with Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo and Kat Dennings all returning as well.

Christopher Eccleston has also joined the cast as primary villain Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

According to the comic books, Algrim the Strong was the most powerful of a race of Dark Elves, who is coerced by Malekith to fight Thor.

He is, however, betrayed by Malekith and injured during a battle, only to be healed and transformed into a much more powerful being called Kurse with twice the strength of Thor.

Shooting on the sequel is currently taking place in London.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje will next be seen alongside Sylvester Stallone in Walter Hill’s Bullet to the Head.
