Alec Baldwin departs Rock of Ages

30 Rock

Story by Jack Foley

ALEC Baldwin has dropped out of the cast of Rock of Ages.

Adam Shankman’s adaptation of the Broadway hit currently stars Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough and newcomer Diego Boneta.

Baldwin joined that ensemble in March, when Shankman said on Twitter: “I’m gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock of Ages. Hollah.”

The 30 Rock star was to have played Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, the Sunset Strip nightclub at the center of the movie.

But The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Baldwin has decided not to do the film. It is not yet known who will replace him.
