Alexander Skarsgard in talks for The East thriller

True Blood

Story by Jack Foley

TRUE Blood heart-throb Alexander Skarsgard is in talks to join Brit Marling in new thriller, The East.

The project, co-written by Marling with her The Sound of My Voice collaborator Zat Batmanglij (who is directing), follows the story of a female agent who infiltrates an eco-terrorist group.

The title of the movie refers to the group’s name.

If talks are completed successfully, Skarsgard would play the leader of the group who seeks revenge against unethical corporations.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Nashville in October and November, in between seasons of the hit vampire drama.

Skarsgard, who plays vampire Eric Northman on True Blood, has consistently kept himself busy with movies in between the show’s commitments to ensure career longevity and a profile beyond the small screen.

He has a number of films on the way, including playing the villain in Rod Lurie’s Straw Dogs remake, Lars von Trier’s Melancholia and next year’s big-budget sci-fi action pic Battleship, which sails into cinemas next summer.
