Alvin & The Chipmunks to get third outing in 3D
Story by Jack Foley
A THIRD outing for Alvin & The Chipmunks is being plotted by Twentieth Century Fox – in 3D.
A provisional US release date of December 16, 2011, has been set for the tentatively titled Alvin & The Chipmunks 3D – one week after Steven Spielberg’s 3D family entry Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of Unicorn.
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this early stage but the three-quel was greenlit following the runaway success of the second movie, and the franchise as a whole.
The first film, released in 2007, grossed $361.3 million worldwide, while last year’s Squeakquel took an almighty $429.8 million worldwide.
