Amanda Seyfried and Orlando Bloom join Albert Nobbs
Story by Jack Foley
AMANDA Seyfried (pictured) is to unite with British actors Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Orlando Bloom for Rodrigo Garcia’s Albert Nobbs.
The film, which finds Glenn Close reprising her award-winning stage role as a woman who must pass as a man to survive life in 19th Century Ireland, also stars Michael Gambon and Janet McTeer.
The project, which is due to begin shooting in Dublin in June, is something of a passion project for Close, who won an Obie Award in 1983 for playing the same character in Simone Benmussa’s Off Broadway adaptation of The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs.
The Damages star will make her feature producing debut and has also adapted the script from the short story by Irish author George Moore in collaboration with author John Banville.
In the story, Close’s heroine will find herself trapped in a prison of her own making after spending 20 years dressing and working as a man.
It is not yet known which roles Seyfried, Meyers and Bloom will take.
