Andrea Arnold to direct Wuthering Heights
Story by Jack Foley
ANDREA Arnold is to direct a new cinematic version of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.
The British filmmaker, best known for adapting her own scripts for films such as Fish Tank and Red Road, will bring the tragic story of Heathcliff and Cathy to the big screen for Ecosse Films.
Producer Robert Bernstein told Variety: “Andrea has previously said that the only book she would ever direct would be Wuthering Heights, because of the passionate, impossible love story at its centre and its elements of class divide. It’s a very lucky coincidence for us that we’ve found each other.”
Olivia Hetreed has adapted the novel into a screenplay for Arnold to direct.
