ANNA Faris is to play the female lead in Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy The Dictator.

The film, which will once again be directed by Borat filmmaker Larry Charles, has been described as “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”

Cohen will reportedly play the dual roles of a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler who gets lost in the US.

Sir Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas have also signed on to star in the comedy as Middle Eastern representatives, while Faris will play the owner of a Whole Foods-style store in New York.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy will follow a similar format to Borat in that Cohen and his creative team are looking for people with very strong improvisational skills.

Shooting is due to commence in June in New York and Spain.
