Anne Hathaway to produce and star in The Lifeboat

Les Miserables

Story by Jack Foley

OSCAR-winning actress Anne Hathaway is attached to star in and produce The Lifeboat.

An adaptation of the book by Charlotte Rogan, the film would follow the story of Grace Winter, a woman who is standing trial for murder in 1914.

Both a newlywed and a widow, the woman subsequently recounts how she survived the sinking of the trans-Atlantic ship Empress with the help of her new husband, only to end up on an over-crowded lifeboat whose fellow survivors soon begin talking about getting rid of certain people.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hathaway will produce with Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin of Working Title Films along with Film 360’s Suzan Bymel and Ben Forkner. She would also take the leading role.

As yet, no director is attached but a script is being written by William Broyles Jr., whose credits include Apollo 13 and Flags of Our Fathers.

Hathaway won this year’s Oscar for best supporting actress for her work in Les Miserables.
