Anthony Hopkins in talks for Red 2

Anthony Hopkins in The Wolfman

Story by Jack Foley

ANTHONY Hopkins is in talks to join the action ensemble Red 2.

If concluded successfully, he’ll line up alongside Bruce Willis, Dame Helen Mirren and John Malkovich as over-the-hill special ops agents who are forced out of retirement for yet another mission.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hopkins is being lined up to play a genius scientist who was locked up in an insane asylum.

He would join Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byun-Hun Lee as new cast members.

Red 2 is the follow-up to the 2010 original that proved a world-wide money-spinner for Entertainment One. Dean Parisot is directing the sequel from a script by Jon and Erich Hober, who worked on the first movie.

If Hopkins jumps on board, it’ll be the latest time that he’s worked with Mirren. In fact, the two are currently shooting Hitchcock in Los Angeles.
