Anton Corbijn to direct new James Dean film

The American

Story by Jack Foley

ANTON Corbijn is to direct Life, a new film based on the true story about the friendship between legendary actor James Dean and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stock was a young photographer working for the Magnum agency when he was given the life-changing assignment of shooting Dean.

The gig subsequently became a personal journey for both men as they travelled from Los Angeles to New York to Indiana, prompting Stock to capture the iconic images that pre-empted Dean’s launch to stardom with East of Eden in 1955.

Luke Davies has written the script while Iain Canning, who produced the Oscar-winning The King’s Speech and the acclaimed Michael Fassbender drama sex addition drama Shame, is producing.

Shooting is due to begin in early 2014 and the hunt is now on for two actors to fill the roles.

Corbjin shot to prominence in the film world by directing 2007’s award-winning Joy Division biopic Control as well as George Clooney thriller The American.

He has The Most Wanted Man, a terrorist thriller starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Rachel McAdams, in the works.
