Argo and Dark Knight Rises among AFI films of 2012

BEN Affleck’s Oscar-tipped Argo and summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises are among the American Film Institute’s films of 2012.

Also among its unranked selections for the 10 best movies of the year are Oscar front-runners Lincoln, Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook as well as critical indie darlings Moonrise Kingdom and Beasts of the Southern Wild.

AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale said in a statement: “AFI Awards celebrates America’s storytellers as collaborators. We are honored to bring together artists as a community, without competition, to acknowledge the gifts they have given the world in 2012.”
