ARMIE Hammer (pictured) is to line up alongside Sir Ben Kingsley and John Malkovich in dark crime thriller Cut Bank.

The film follows a young mechanic who, in attempting to escape his home-town of Cut Bank, Montana, “sets in motion a series of events that will change his life, and the life of Cut Bank, forever”.

The project is based on a screenplay by Roberto Patino that landed a coveted spot on the 2009 Black List and will mark the feature film debut of director Matt Shakman, who has previously helmed episodes of Mad Men and Six Feet Under.

Production is scheduled to begin in the autumn.

Shakman himself commented: “Cut Bank is a clever morality tale, a visceral thriller and ultimately a surprising story of redemption… [It] offers a director’s dream: a great visual world and a brilliant collection of characters to populate it.”

Hammer is currently very much in demand. He was most recently seen as Prince Charming in Mirror Mirror and is playing The Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp.

Kingsley, meanwhile, can next be seen in Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator, playing the titular tyrant’s security chief, and is currently in talks to play a villain in Iron Man 3.
