Arnold Schwarzenegger's Maggie to hit UK cinemas in July

Story by Jack Foley

MAGGIE, the new film from Arnold Schwarzenegger, is to be released in UK cinemas on July 17, 2015.

Described as a departure from Arnie’s usual gung-ho fare, the film also stars Abigail Breslin as a teenage girl in the Midwest who becomes infected by an outbreak of a disease that slowly turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies.

During her transformation, her loving father (played by Schwarzenegger) stays by her side.

Maggie marks the directorial debut from British director Henry Hobson.

It debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival to generally favourable reviews with many critics commenting on the restrained and sensitively delivered performance from Schwarzenegger.

Rupert Preston, of Vertigo Films, who will be releasing Maggie in the UK, commented: “We are proud to be releasing this extraordinary film in the UK. It’s a career defining performance by Arnold Schwarzenegger and an amazingly assured and skilful directorial debut by Henry Hobson.”
