Back To The Future and ET: The Extra Terrestrial won't get remakes

THE Back To The Future movies and Steven Spielberg’s ET: The Extra Terrestrial are safe from getting the remake treatment.

According to Frank Marshall, producer of both films, there are no plans to remake either, nor to add any belated sequels.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, Marshall – whose producing credits extend to the Bourne franchise – declared: “We’re never touching those. We won’t reboot Back To The Future, as long as I have my say. No, that one exists just like ET – we’re never touching those. I love watching it.”

His views echo those of Back To The Future screenwriter Bob Gale, who said in 2014 that he was absolutely opposed to the idea of a Back To The Future 4.

“Let’s face it, we’ve seen a lot of sequels that are made years and years later and I don’t think I can name one that’s any good,” he said. “That lives up to the originals. I don’t think you can recapture it.”
