Barbra Streisand to perform at Oscars
Story by Jack Foley
BARBRA Streisand will perform at this year’s Oscars.
The live appearance will be her first stage appearance in front of the Academy in 36 years.
Ceremony producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement on Wednesday: “In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agree to do a very special performance.”
Streisand last performed at the Academy Awards in 1977, when she sang Evergreen from A Star Is Born, for which she won the trophy for best original song.
There is no word as yet on what she intends to perform at the 2013 showcase.
Her most recent film credit is the comedy The Guilt Trip opposite Seth Rogen, which proved a box office disappointment when released at Christmas.
The Oscars will be presented on February 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
