Before Sunrise trilogy completed by Richard Linklater
Story by Jack Foley
ROMANTIC drama Before Sunrise has now been turned into a trilogy by writer-director Richard Linklater.
The third film in the series, After Midnight, sees Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy reprise their roles as lovers Jesse and Celine and follows the events of the sequel, Before Sunset.
It has been co-written by Linklater, Delpy and Hawke.
A statement released by the trio revealed: “It’s great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight.”
Linklater began the trilogy in 1995 with Before Sunrise, which followed a chance meeting between an American tourist and a French student on a train en route to Vienna, and the subsequent day they spend together.
It became a cult hit among movie-goers and prompted the 2004 sequel, Before Sunset, which earned the writing trio an Oscar nomination.
On that occasion, the encounter took place in Paris and brought Jesse, now an author, and Celine, an environmentalist, together nine years after their first meeting.
