BEN Affleck looks set to replace Tom Cruise as the star of Nathan Decker, a new political comedy from Warner Bros.

The story, by Dan Fogelman (of Crazy, Stupid, Love), follows a politician who is caught in an affair and returns to his hometown to confront his past.

The search is now on for a director for the project, as Affleck is currently in post-production on the Warners thriller Argo.

He was last seen on the big screen in The Town, which he also directed.
