Ben Affleck has penned his own Batman film

Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

BEN Affleck has written his own Batman movie, according to his agent.

The actor, who has emerged with the most credit from Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, is said to have hit upon “a really cool” idea, which is an option for a stand-along Batman film.

News of the script was revealed to The Hollywood Reporter by Affleck’s agent, WME-IMG’s Patrick Whitesell, who added: “He’s contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape.

“[But] there’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

Needless to say, Whitsell refused to divulge any further plot details.

However, his comments will add fuel to the long-held rumours that Affleck intends to direct himself in a solo Batman outing once the Justice League films, scheduled for 2017 and 2018, have hit cinemas.

Indeed, Deadline reported in July that Affleck would co-write the screenplay with DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns.

If completed and given the green-light, the film would be the first stand-alone Batman movie since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Affleck, who has won an Oscar for his work on Argo, is one of the few stars to emerge unscathed from the critical mauling given to Batman Vs Superman. Indeed, many critics have praised the actor’s portrayal of a darker, more twisted Bruce Wayne.

That being said, filmgoers have so far ignored the reviews, as Zack Snyder’s film has zoomed to $500m world-wide in less than a week on release.
