Ben Affleck rules himself out of Justice League movie

Ben Affleck directs Gone Baby Gone

BEN Affleck has denied that he is in the frame to direct Warner Bros Justice League movie.

Various US websites had put Affleck in pole position to direct the franchise starter, describing him as Warner Bros first choice and someone who could star in the film as well as direct it.

But Affleck himself has now told reporters in Canada: “I’m not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment websites is that they need to fill pages, and that’s how rumours get started.

Justice League sounds really exciting, but it’s not something I’m working on.”

That leaves Warner Bros still searching for the right director to potentially deliver a DC superhero blockbuster to rival Marvel’s runaway success, The Avengers.

In comic form, The Justice League features some of most popular superheroes in DC’s rosta, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.

And Warner Bros. does seem to be lining up their heroes in much the same way as Marvel did with The Avengers. Next summer, for instance, there’s Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel while on the small screen Arrow is due to debut in October.
