BEN Affleck’s stand-alone Batman film looks set to pit the superhero against long-time nemesis Deathstroke.

The character was teased by Affleck in a cryptic tweet of the new villain on Instagram, which showed the well-known villain walking toward the camera in ominous fashion. The post prompted much speculation among fans, with several websites now confirming that Deathstroke will indeed be Batman’s opponent in the Affleck directed stand-alone film.

Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson, was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.

A popular comic book character, he is a mercenary turned assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans No.2 in 1980. But he has encountered Batman on several occasions in the comics.

News of Deathstroke’s place in the Affleck film looks to have ended speculation surrounding Jared Leto’s Joker, who was introduced into the new DC universe in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, during which time he was seen battling Batman.

Affleck has played Batman twice already, in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.

He is currently shooting The Justice League in London.
